Business Partner of the Year: BRTRC, a government contractor in Fairfax, has been partnering at Westlawn Elementary for 11 years. Their partnership includes projects that directly support student learning like mentoring, and activities like serving teachers at a luncheon or stuffing backpacks with school supplies. Time Warner Cable was a finalist for Business Partner of the Year. As a partner for just two years, Time Warner has already donated 700 service hours a year. With a focus on Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) initiatives, they support career experiences through their Connect a Million Minds initiative. Time Warner initiated an after-school robotics club and a huge mentoring program. Their annual golf tournament has raised $32,000 for STEM supplies in just two years.
