Terri Kieffer, of Emmetsburg, Md. tosses a “bumper” into a pool for her dog Alvin at the Dock Dogs Outdoor Big Air event at the Celebrate Fairfax Festival on June 8. A long jump for dogs, the handler tosses a floating dog toy into a 35-foot pool. The dog runs across a 40-foot “dock” and jumps into the water. The length of the jump is measured from the edge of the dock to where the dog lands in the water.
