Cancer-Free Randolph Returns to Titans

T.C. Williams head football coach Dennis Randolph was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2011, causing him to miss the final six games of the season. One year later, he's cancer-free and back coaching the Titans.

Sitting on a bookcase in West Potomac High Athletic Director Jeff Dietze's office is a framed autograph picture of one of the greatest athletes the Alexandria-based public school has ever known. The picture is of Katie Beal — a 2001 West Potomac graduate and Wolverine soccer great — during game action when she was a member of the Florida State University women's team.

Lake Braddock Secondary's dramatic turnaround boys' soccer season in which the Bruins won just two of their first nine games before emerging as a Patriot District and Northern Region force the remainder of the spring campaign came to a tough ending last Friday afternoon, June 8 at Westfield High School when the local squad lost its Virginia State AAA semifinals playoff game by penalty kicks to opponent Albemarle High of Charlottesville, 2-1.

TC Girls’ Track Places Second, Boys’ Third at Regionals

The T.C. Williams girls’ track and field team finished second at the Northern Region championship meet on May 24-25 at Robinson Secondary School, finishing behind only South County. The TC boys’ team had a chance to win the region title, but finished third due to a disqualification in the 4x400-meter relay event. Annandale finished first, followed by Westfield.

TC Freshman Girls Win Bronze

Three weeks after capturing the Silver Medal as the second-fastest boat in Virginia, the T.C. Williams girls’ freshman 8 captured the bronze medal as the third-fastest boat in the United States.
